“Yes we know summer’s around the corner but it’s May 12th and it still feels like winter” – everythingYNTK.

HeadBangers accessories are all made by hand and the 3 principle designers (Shayla Jamerson, Tasha Dial and Tiffany Stapleton) happen to be BFF’s.  We spoke with them about everything from running a business not only as female entreprenuers, but as best friends – and here’s what they told us:

Tasha –  PRO: We all have the same common goal and are so different so we always have fresh perspective and ideas that we always agree on. It’s a fluid relationship and we’ve established our roles and stick to them.

CON: Having to hold each other accountable and be open with those expectations by communicating conflict even when it’s uncomfortable. Business is business and any pressure we feel from each other is for the advancement of our dreams to come true. It takes very mature & open women to work together as friends! True friends are hard to find but when you have a trusted foundation such as ours the possibilities are endless!

Q: So many of us have creative outlets and side projects, but never pursue it due to the 9 to 5 gig. What gave you the courage to pursue your passion?

Shayla: Things wouldn’t get done unless we did something about it and two years ago it was time to introduce this art and form of expression to the fashion industry. Headbangers are 3 unique individuals who LOVE large earrings! For us, there is no better way to express our individuality then to put our heart & souls into one of a kind hand made jewelry we love and women of all walks of life enjoy as well.

Q: Who are some of the celebrities that have worn your designs?

Q: Talk about the design process. Your inspirations, materials used and special details you focus on.
Tasha: Initially we’d come up with our own designs then show them to each other and get feedback. Now, we collaborate by each making an individual piece and hand them off to trick out! All pieces take an hour to 6 hours to make, hand sewing, painting or beading each piece. To ensure originality, HeadBangers Accessories use raw materials. With a focus on durability and details, we want our clients to know that we take our time to create our pieces, never sending anything out that we wouldn’t personally wear.

Q: Where can we expect to see HeadBangers in the short and long term?
Tiffany: 6 month goals include: Launching our Men’s Line, a new website, product placement in high-end boutiques in Los Angeles, New York and San Francisco. Our long-term goals for the HeadBanger brand include our own boutiques nation wide, a reality show and being the first accessory line to have a runway show at New York fashion week.
